about
In August 2019 a small group of villagers held a funeral for the first ever Icelandic glacial death. The glacier, colloquially known as OK, once sat atop an ancient volcano is now merely a blue lake.
It is feared that Iceland could lose all of its glaciers within the next 200 years due to Climate change and rising CO2 levels.
The video uses footage (kindly shared) from a short film documenting this tragic event made by anthropologists Cymene Howe and Dominic Boyer, two professors from Rice University in Texas (www.notokmovie.com).
